Lead Educator for National Middle School, High School, and Higher Ed Curricula on Media Literacy
Dr. Walsh is the lead educator overseeing all creative and intellectual development and design of US middle and high school curricula, as well as college educational materials. These curricula in media/visual literacy (including focus on generative AI) is part of the educational arm of the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI), a consortium of major media and technology companies as well as NGOs working to combat mis/disinformation by establishing the industry standard for digital content provenance.
Lead Media Literacy Educator for US Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Dr. Walsh, invited by the US Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, has designed and led a media literacy education campaign around the country, with workshops for students in Mostar, Banja Luka, and Sarajevo, and public lectures for journalists in country.
National High School Curriculum
Co-authored by Walsh and Generation Human Rights, this national high school curriculum focuses on visual literacy, photography, and the significance of archives. Meeting core standards and applicable in English, history/social studies, civics, and arts classrooms, the curriculum teaches a rising generation about the history of photography, the value of personal documentation, the skills needed to be an archivist, and the import of cross-cultural and cross-generational dialogue through the aid of photographs.
Family Activities
Co-authored by Walsh and Generation Human Rights, the “LRA Parent Activities” are geared toward parents/caretakers, to use with elementary- and middle school-aged children, as simple yet fun family-oriented projects and activities that promote interest in family archives, family history, and cross-generational conversation.
